This talented duo’s settings of North Indian Classical Music, also known as Hindustani Classical Music, is based on set melodic patterns, called raagas, which allows each artist creative freedom to improvise melodies over set rhythmic patterns.
Seema Gulati has performed on sitar across North America showcasing the talent and practice for the musical tradition she represents. Seema also helps maintain the Shahid Parvez Khan Academy of Music in the Valley, which is devoted to promoting and training individuals in traditional classical music.
Shreyas Iyer has been learning the tabla since he was 7 years old when he studied with Pandit Nandan Mehta. His innate passion and dedication to learning this complex art form has led him to perform with several artists and at venues like the world famous Musical Instrument Museum. He continues to spread his knowledge and passion for this instrument through classes and workshops in the Valley.
